Metronome Tone
How fast are sixteenth notes at Allegro Furioso?

I put my metronome at 120, but then I realized that that can’t possibly be right. I’m auditioning for the All County in Seminole County FL. What are you putting your metronome on? Or what do you think I should put it on?
The B flat clarinet piece for all county auditions in seminole county. I had my metronome on 120, but realized that can’t possibly be right. What should I put it on?

As a clarinet player myself, my advice is not to worry about exactly how fast the sixteenths “should” be. Slow the music down as much as you need to in order to play it well, and hit all of the notes with precision and good tone. Once you have accomplished this, the next step will be to work on your speed, and step up the tempo as much as you think you can while still hitting all of your notes well.

No judge will be impressed by somebody who completes a piece of music in the “correct” amount of time, but doesn’t play it well.
