Tone Capacitor

How do the tone knobs on a Fender strat affect its tone?
I have read an article on the internet that tells something about the tone knobs affecting the tone by making it warm or mellow. Help please?
Warm and mellow are relative terms, however, when you hear “Warm tone” you’re usually talking about a bass heavy tone.
The tone knobs affect the tone of your guitar, there are two, one for the middle pickup and another for the bridge. The tone knob works by removing high frequencies from the guitar sound, as you turn the knob you accentuate the bass.
If you don’t hear a difference when tuning the tone knob on your guitar, don’t worry, this is actually quite common, because of the way the tone knob works, on some combination of guitar/amp/cable, the tone knob does nothing. Try another guitar cable, this is actually the most common thing to affect guitar tone and guitar knob functionality, next is the amp, try another amp.
In some cases, its necessary to change out a small component in the Guitar Wiring (a capacitor) to get this working, this is most common on low end guitars, but can be necessary even on more expensive guitars.
AS an example of the way the tone knob affects the guitar sound, you can try selecting the Neck Pickup and turn it all the way up, you should have a bright sound that easily cuts through, if you turn the knob all the way down, you’ll get a “warmer” sound kind of like a jazz guitar tone.
Good luck!
