how do you change the knobs on a les paul?

I’ve got an epiphone les paul and I want to put some new speed knobs on it, but I don’t know how to get the old ones off without damaging the pot.

very carefully, theres a tool specifically designed for this task. have you ever seen a car window handle puller? It looks like that but smaller. take it to a music shop I bet the guy will do it for free.
