Song Chords And Lyrics

Writing a song with guitar chords and lyrics?

I play the guitar and and I wanted to write a song with chords and lyrics. But I’ve never wrote a song with chords…I got C, D, F, G but nothing else. I don’t even have a tune for the song. All I have is the lyrics done. I’m having trouble with the chords I have no idea were to start?

That melody will then limit the chords you can use to harmonize… in back of that melody.

Most of my really GOOD song writers… hear the melody and the chords in their head.

My job as their Recording Engineer is to be sure I get the sound in their head… down on the track.
