On defense, how do I prevent the opponent I’m guarding from setting a pick on my teammate all the time?

On defense, how do I prevent the opponent I’m guarding from setting a pick on my teammate all the time so that the guy with the ball always gets a good look or drives in? On defense, I don’t know how many times the guys I’ve guarded have set picks on my teammates. Too many times. Is there a way I can prevent that from happening?

Communicate with your teammates. Let them know where and when the pick is coming from ( yell out PICK LEFT!!!)

If they do set the pick you can try to block out the side they are trying to go to and force the ballhandler to go the same way your teammate is on. When fdoing this you have to make sure the player you are defending doesnt slip out to the rim or for an open shot.

If all else Fails yell out SWITCH!!! and cover the ballhandler and allow the other defender to pick up your man.

Most of the time the most effective defense is team defense, so always be prepared to rotate and pick somebody up if there is a mismatch ora defender gets beat of the dribble.
