can i put active seymour duncan ahb-2 in my passive rg350dx guitar? how? is it worth it?

i bought a new rg(rg350dx white). i like its style but i hate the pick ups. im planning of buying a new set which is the seymour duncan ahb-2. i need ur comments and suggestions.

The Blackouts are some great pickups – I’m sure you’ll be very happy with them! Comparing them side by side with the EMG 81/85’s, they’re warmer, thicker, and have more low end/low mids “chunk” to them. The EMG’s have a perfectly good tone in their own right, don’t get me wrong, but it’s very marked to hear the difference between them… EMGs have less bass and more of a modern “cut” to them, ie a little more trebly, a little more precise, if you will.

A guitar by itself isn’t “passive” or “active”…. just the pickups.

Active pickups will have instructions with them, and you can always google if you aren’t sure, or you can have a tech install them as well. The biggest things to remember?

* Active pickups need to have lower value pots, and they should come with the pups. Incorrect values will tank their tone.

* You need to unplug your guitar when you aren’t playing it – every time. Actives are always on when the guitar is plugged in, and this runs your batteries out.

* Actives can last a long time, at least a couple of months, depending on how much you play. Playing a dozen or so hours a week plus gigs, my EMGs lasted 4-6 months. You’ll know when the batteries start running out when the low end gets fuzzy and weak.

I think that upgrading pickups is a great idea, one that I always budget for when getting a guitar. I don’t buy nice 1k$+ guitars, because I know I’m just going to rip them apart anyways, replace the electronics, put in better pickups, etc.
