Is this a good deal on a amp?
I am thinking about getting a traynor amp. Its the ycv40. The guy is asking 330 for it. It looks brand new, comes with a extension cab and is a tube amp.
I used to have a Traynor ycv50. One thing you should consider is if you’re in a band, how much are you gonna be moving it around. They’re big, heavy combo amps and really a bear to be moving around a lot. I was also skinny and weak when I had it but they still suck even if you’re stronger. Plus they fall into the “you gotta movie it yourself” category with one handle in the middle and it’s banging up against your side when you walk with it lol. Amp cabinets aren’t nearly as bad cause people always help with hauling those and all the weight isn’t banging against your leg. Cabinet amp heads aren’t nearly as heavy or awkward as big combo amps.
Don’t mean to discourage you but you might wish someone did once you own one and need to bring it places lol. That is a killer deal over retail though. For a reasonably priced, high quality tube combo amp I highly recommend the Fender Blues Junior. I own one now. It’s much more portable than the big combo amps and sounds basically just as good. It’s got a 12″ speaker just like the ycv40 and even though it has 15w versus 40w, tube wattage isn’t like Solid State wattage when it comes to increasing it. I believe 15 tube watts is at least as loud as 100 solid state watts. Playing in the basement I never get even close to full volume and they are loud without the “breaking up” of solid state amps.
