Carry Case
What are the best mechanical properties for a carry case?
I am to design a carry case for electrical equipment using CES edupack 2011. I am to Select materials and process methods to make a light travel case for electrical equipment (two models – cheap; and up-market, high quality, minimum weight ones).
So far, I think what is important is;
Hardness,
Compressive strength,
poor conductor,
good insulator,
materials that can be shaped using casting or moulding.
and then arranged by price/density.
I am getting stupid things such as glass. So maybe add tensile strength. I am only getting ceramics as choices, I know cases would probably be made out of tough plastics or metals. What properties am I missing?
Cost, weight, ease of shaping/manufacture.
Note that it is weight of a case rather than density of material.
