how do you replace a combustion engine with a battery powered one?
I saw a guy on the news replaced his engine with a battery powered one. Does anyone know how he did this?
If you don’t know or understand how to do it, or know where to buy the parts, — you need 2 wheelbarows ful of “$100s”, and $3,000 worth of special batterys! Car batterys “won’t cut it” very well, unless you don’t plan traveling much further than 10 miles from home!
I you wish to experiment with “hybrids” go to “Mother Earth News” archives (on inrternet) and look up plans to convert an Opel GT (the one that looked likle a miniatrue corvette)– to run with an aircraft gererator from a B-17, and a 15 hp B&S engine! This one you might pull off with a couple – 3 thousand $$, — if you can find cheap enough electric motor! …. This was done during the last artificial gas shortage,- (When gas went up to 59-69 cents)– don’t know how hard surplus aricraft stuff might be to get now! Talk to custom car club people, possibly they have been getting advertisements for these types of parts along with “custom hotrod stuff”!!
Also you might find an old golf cart you can mess with! — Which of course might have all the “peripheral stuff” you will need too, – -posssibly 15 hp electric motors!
