Acoustic Simulator
How does James Hetfield from Metallica switch from Acoustic sound straight to Electric?
In songs such as Fade to Black and The Unforgiven. I never gave much thought to it until recently. I always thought he used an Acoustic Simulator pedal with an electric guitar, but now I thought, is it possible for him to switch guitars in the middle of the song?
In live shows he always has a half-sized classical guitar attached to the mic stand for songs like The Unforgiven. When playing Fade to Black, Welcome Home, Call of Ktulu, etc… he uses a clean guitar tone with deep flanger.
The way he switches on stage is he has a guitar tech below that switches it for him when the song comes to the clean tone.
